Doris Leola Hintz, 102, servant of the Lord, dedicated educator, and family woman passed away on Wednesday morning, August 7, 2024 at The Inn at Ashland Woods.
She was born in Massillon, Ohio on July 13, 1922, to the late Phillip S. and Effie M. (Wayson) Flanagan.
She was married to Walter R. Russ on September 23, 1939. She later married Paul M. Hintz on August 5, 1950. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary shortly before Paul's death in 2014.
Mrs. Hintz began her college career the year her youngest daughter entered kindergarten. She eventually earned a Master of Education degree and completed a 6th Year Program in Educational Supervision and Reading Specialty. She was employed as a Reading Specialist in Massillon City Schools and, while there, authored the school system's first Reading Curriculum Guide. Later she worked as a Language Arts specialist in the Canton City Schools.
